This is the story of Larkin, a 12-year-old girl, whose parents had lost a baby boy that Larkin never knew. When they find an infant on their doorstep, they take care of her for a year, which forces them to deal with the earlier loss. Shows the impact that the loss of a sibling can have, even when that brother or sister has not been known.

Sibling Grief: Healing After the Death of a Sister or Brother, by P. Gill White, PhD. The first chapter is about the death of a sibling as a child and includes the categories of surviving children as described in research. This is informative and hopeful for parents.
